Auburn Set to Host LSU on Wednesday

The Auburn men’s basketball team (12-6, 2-3) plays host to LSU (7-12,0-5) Wednesday at 7 pm Central in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are $15 with a limited number of Family Fun Zone Seats for $7 each available on the night of the game only. It is All Auburn-All Orange Night as fans are encouraged to wear orange. The first 1,000 fans receive an AU license plate. There is also a Kids Zone with inflatable games, cheek tattoos and coloring station. The game is not televised but can be heard on the Auburn ISP Sports Network, www.auburntigers.com and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 119.

2008 Auburn Baseball Season Preview

The start of the baseball season is nearly upon us as the Auburn baseball team will hold its first team practice of the spring on Friday, Feb. 1. All Friday, Saturday and Sunday practices are open to the public while the weekday practices will be closed. The Tigers will play host to East Tennessee State in a four-game series, beginning at 3pm on Friday, Feb. 22, opening day for college baseball across the country.

Harry Philpott, AU’s 11th president, dies at age 90

AUBURN - Harry Melvin Philpott, who served as Auburn University’s 11th president from 1965-1980, died early Monday. He was 90 years old.
A memorial service for Philpott will be held Friday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Auburn First Baptist Church. A private burial will take place in Memorial Cemetery.

Auburn Track And Field Posts Five Qualifying Marks At Tom Jones Memorial Classic

The Auburn men’s and women’s track and field teams posted one automatic and four provisional NCAA qualifying marks during competition Saturday at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic hosted by the University of Florida. It was the second indoor meet of the year for Auburn, which sent a partial squad for the second weekend in a row.

Auburn Equestrian Victorious Against Delaware State 13-5

The Auburn equestrian team (5-1) defeated Delaware State 13-5 at the Auburn Equestrian Center Saturday to take the first home meet of the spring. The Tigers defeated the Hornets 6-3 in Hunt Seat and 7-2 in Western.

The No. 27 Auburn women’s tennis team defeated Mercer 7-0 in the first dual match of its Saturday double-header. Auburn gave up only X games in the match, scoring four singles and two doubles shut-out victories.

No.25/22 Women’s Basketball Takes On Alabama Sunday At 2 PM In Tuscaloosa

The No. 25/22 Auburn women’s basketball team returns to action Sunday in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers (13-6, 1-3 SEC) will face Alabama (8-11, 1-3 SEC) at 2 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum. Tiger fans can listen to the game live on 96.7 FM and are encouraged to make the trip to Tuscaloosa to cheer on Auburn.

25 Auburn Student-Athletes Named To SEC Academic Fall Honor Roll

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. With more than 23,000 students and 1,200 faculty, it is the largest university in the state, and according to U.S. News & World Report, has a selectivity rating of "more selective." Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The college was donated to the state of Alabama in 1872, when it became the state's public land-grant university under the Morrill Act and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1892, the college became the first four-year coeducational school in the state. The college was renamed the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API) in 1899.
