Auburn Can’t Hold Early Four-Run Lead, Falls To Tennessee, 8-4, In 11 Innings

After piling up a four-run lead after four innings, Auburn was held to just one hit over the final six frames as it fell to Tennessee, 8-4, in 11 innings in front of the ninth-largest crowd in Plainsman Park history. The loss evened the series at a game apiece and dropped Auburn’s record to 17-10, 3-5 SEC.

Auburn gymnast Lindsey Puckett was named Co-SEC Gymnast of the Year and Jeff Thompson was named Co-Coach of the Year as the Auburn gymnastics team finished in fifth place scoring 196.100 at the Southeastern Conference Championship Friday in Duluth, Ga.

Tigers Shine At Rain-Soaked Yellow Jacket Invitational

Despite intermittent showers that shortened the event, the Auburn track and field team still set four regional qualifying marks and won two events Saturday during the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.

Blue Defeats White, 30-14, In A-Day Game

Kodi Burns, Sen’Derrick Marks and Clinton Durst were named MVPs as the Blue team defeated the White squad, 30-14, at Auburn’s annual A-Day spring football game.

Women’s Golf Moves To Third At Bryan National Collegiate; Cydney Clanton Tied For Fifth

Auburn improved to third place after firing 15-over 303 on the second day of competition at the Bryan National Collegiate in Brown Summit, N.C. Freshman Cydney Clanton jumped 18 places and is tied for fifth after shooting even par 72 today.

Auburn Equestrian Falls to South Carolina 14-5

The Auburn equestrian team (11-4) lost to South Carolina (8-4) Friday in the preliminary round of the 2008 Southern Equestrian Championships 14-5. The Gamecocks defeated the Tigers 7-3 in Hunt Seat and 7-2 in Western.

No. 25 Auburn Goes To The Wire In 4-3 Loss To No. 12 Tennessee

With the score tied 3-3, No.12 Tennessee (16-2, 5-2 SEC) pulled out the final and deciding singles victory to take the 4-3 victory over No. 25 Auburn (9-8, 3-4 SEC) Friday at Yarbrough Tennis Center.

Auburn earned its third title of the 2008 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Friday night as the Tigers finish the second day of competition in fifth place with 213 points.

The Auburn offense was relentless on Friday night, collecting eight runs through the first four innings as six Tigers collected multi-hit games in Auburn’s 12-6 win over Tennessee in the series opener in front of 3,349 fans at Plainsman Park. The win improved Auburn’s record to 17-9, 3-4 SEC while Tennessee dropped to 15-8, 4-3 SEC.

The Auburn University women’s tennis team (13-6, 3-4 SEC) fell 4-3 to the No. 20 Tennessee Lady Vols (12-5, 5-2 SEC) in Knoxville Friday.

The Auburn football team went through a quick, 11-period practice on Friday in preparation for Saturday’s A-Day game at Jordan-Hare Stadium at 1 p.m. CT. The walk-through in helmets and no pads consisted of special teams work and personnel situations.

Women’s Golf In Fourth After First Round Of Bryan National Collegiate

The No.8 Auburn women’s golf team battled for the top spot most of the day in first round action at the Bryan National Collegiate. The Tigers shot 13-over 301 at the par-72, 6,319-yard Players Course in Brown Summit, N.C.

Auburn To Start on Beam at SEC Championship

Auburn senior Julie Dwyer drew beam as Auburn’s first rotation for Saturday’s Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championship. The Championship begins tomorrow at 4 p.m., ET., in The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga.

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. With more than 23,000 students and 1,200 faculty, it is the largest university in the state, and according to U.S. News & World Report, has a selectivity rating of "more selective." Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The college was donated to the state of Alabama in 1872, when it became the state's public land-grant university under the Morrill Act and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1892, the college became the first four-year coeducational school in the state. The college was renamed the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API) in 1899. In 1960, its name was officially changed to Auburn University, as it had long been popularly known. Auburn is one of only 13 American universities designated as a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research center.
