Alexey Tsyrenov Selected To NCAA Singles Championship Field

Auburn junior Alexey Tsyrenov will compete at the NCAA Singles Championships, May 21-26 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Subcommittee announced Wednesday.

Auburn Falls To Troy, 6-3

Troy scored three times in the top of the fourth inning and Auburn was unable to mount a comeback as it fell, 6-3, on Tuesday night in the final home non-conference game of the season for Auburn.

No. 35 Men’s Tennis To Face Wake Forest In First Round Of NCAA Tournament

The No. 35 Auburn men’s tennis team earned its ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and is set to face No. 28 Wake Forest in the first round, the NCAA announced on Tuesday. For the second year in a row, the Tigers advance to the NCAA Regional in Athens, Ga., and will face the Demon Deacons on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. ET at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Auburn To Play Host To Troy On Two Dollar Tuesday

The Auburn baseball team returns to Plainsman Park on Tuesday night at 6pm for Two Dollar Tuesday and a game against in-state foe Troy. The Tigers are currently 24-21 overall while Troy is 26-19.

Three Auburn Players Taken In Day Two Of NFL Draft

Auburn defensive tackle Pat Sims, defensive back Jonathan Wilhite and offensive tackle King Dunlap were all taken in the 2008 National Football League Draft, Sunday. Sims was taken in the third round (77th overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals, Wilhite was a fourth round pick (129th overall) by the New England Patriots, and Dunalp was a seventh round (230th overall) pick of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tigers Fall In Series Finale At Alabama, 17-7

Alabama scored nine runs between the first two innings and Auburn could never recover, falling 17-7 in Sunday afternoon’s series finale at Alabama. The loss dropped Auburn to 24-21, 8-13 SEC while Alabama is now 25-21, 10-11 SEC.

About Auburn University

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. With more than 23,000 students and 1,200 faculty, it is the largest university in the state, and according to U.S. News & World Report, has a selectivity rating of "more selective." Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The college was donated to the state of Alabama in 1872, when it became the state's public land-grant university under the Morrill Act and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1892, the college became the first four-year coeducational school in the state. The college was renamed the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API) in 1899. In 1960, its name was officially changed to Auburn University, as it had long been popularly known. Auburn is one of only 13 American universities designated as a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research center.
