Auburn won three more titles, set a school record and had nine more automatic qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships during the final day of the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships Saturday at John McDonnell Field.

Auburn soccer signee Katy Frierson was named the seventh-overall recruit in the 2008 Top 25 U.S. High School Recruits by Soccer Buzz. Frierson, from Homewood, Ala., is the only recruit in the list to have signed with a Southeastern Conference program.

Cory Martin Named SEC Men’s Field Athlete Of The Year

Senior Cory Martin has been named Southeastern Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season for the second straight year, the conference office announced Monday. Martin won the award for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2007.

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. With more than 23,000 students and 1,200 faculty, it is the largest university in the state, and according to U.S. News & World Report, has a selectivity rating of "more selective." Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The college was donated to the state of Alabama in 1872, when it became the state's public land-grant university under the Morrill Act and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1892, the college became the first four-year coeducational school in the state. The college was renamed the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API) in 1899. In 1960, its name was officially changed to Auburn University, as it had long been popularly known. Auburn is one of only 13 American universities designated as a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research center.
