W. Equestrian. Auburn’s Maggie McAlary Awarded Most Outstanding Hunt Seat Rider at 2009 Varsity Equestrian National Championships

Auburn equestrian freshman Maggie McAlary was presented the MVP trophy by the United States Hunter Jumper Association for being this year’s most outstanding Hunt Seat rider at the 2009 Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco, Texas.

Baseball. Baseball Welcomes #7 Ole Miss To Plainsman Park To Start The Stretch Run

The stretch run for the Auburn baseball team begins this weekend when No. 7 Ole Miss visits Plainsman Park for a three-game Southeastern Conference series. Auburn (27-19, 8-13 SEC) enters the weekend in ninth-place in the SEC standings, a game behind South Carolina for the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament held later this month at Regions Park in Hoover.

Football. Dr. Ed Dyas Elected To College Football Hall of Fame

Former Auburn football All-American Dr. Ed Dyas has been selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, announced the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Thursday. Dyas, who finished fourth in the 1960 Heisman Trophy voting and was a scholastic All-American, will be the 12th Auburn coach or player inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Baseball. Eight-Run Fifth Sends Auburn Series Sweep Of Troy, 13-8

Auburn scored eight runs in the fifth inning to complete a home-and-home sweep of Troy, winning 13-8 on Wednesday night at Riddle-Pace Field. All nine starters recorded hits and scored at least one run as Auburn pounded out 16 hits on Wednesday, a night after recording a season-high 22 in Tuesday’s 26-6 win.

Community Service. Auburn Honors Top Student-Athletes At Tiger Torch Banquet

The Auburn Athletic Department honored 171 student-athletes at the Tiger Torch Banquet at the Auburn University Student Center Wednesday. In order to qualify for the banquet, student-athletes had to achieve a minimum 3.0 grade point average for the last academic year or for their career.

Baseball. Ben Jones’ Nine RBI Ignites Auburn Offense In 26-6 Win Over Troy

Ben Jones cracked a grand slam and a three-run home run in back-to-back at bats on Tuesday night, finishing with a career-high nine RBI on three hits as Auburn pounded out a season-high 22 hits in a 26-6 rout of Troy. Auburn finished the night with the sixth five-homer night of the season and took over the national lead in home runs with 97 on the season.

The No. 19 Auburn men’s tennis team earned its 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and is set to face No. 39 South Florida in the first round, the NCAA announced on Tuesday. The Tigers will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament and will play at Florida State’s Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

W. Volleyball. Volleyball Caps Off Spring Training With SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championship

The Auburn volleyball team finished up its spring training on April 18, competing in the second annual SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championship. The tournament was part of the “Fiesta on Siesta Key,” an event comprised of the SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championship as well as the Collegiate Beach Volleyball Challenge.

The Auburn baseball team will attempt to break a five-game losing streak on Tuesday when it plays host to Troy at 6pm CT at Plainsman Park. The game is the first of a home-and-home series between the two teams.

W. Golf. No. 6 Women’s Golf Selected To NCAA East Regional

The No. 6-ranked Auburn women’s golf team received a bid to the NCAA East Region, which will be held at the University of Florida’s Mark Bostick Golf Course May 7-9, the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship Committee announced Monday. The Tigers receive the Southeastern Conference’s automatic bid after winning the SEC Championship on April 19.

Nominations are being accepted through June 30 for the 2009 Pamela Wells Sheffield Award, which is presented annually to a woman who best embodies selfless service and commitment to Auburn University and the Auburn family.

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
