Cross Country. Auburn Men Third, Women Seventh at SEC Cross Country Championships

The Auburn men earned a trio of top-five finishes while Holly Knight paced the women with a sixth-place finish at the 2009 SEC Championship meet hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss Saturday morning.

Football. Tigers Use 23-Point Third Quarter To Down No. 24 Ole Miss, 33-20

Auburn used a 23-point third quarter to pull out a 33-20 win over No. 24 Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Ben Tate led the Auburn offense with 144 yards rushing as Auburn became bowl eligible with its fifth come-from-behind victory this season.

W. Soccer. Tigers Win The Iron Bowl Of Soccer, 2-0

Rebecca Howell scored for the third consecutive game, leading Auburn to a 2-0 win over Alabama in the annual Iron Bowl of Soccer. The win was the fourth straight for Auburn (9-7-3, 6-5-0 SEC) over Alabama (6-10-1, 2-7-1 SEC), which has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two teams.

Baseball. Gray Clinches Fall World Series With 7-2 Win On Friday Night

The Gray Team clinched the annual Fall World Series with a 7-2 win on Friday night at Plainsman Park, riding the solo home runs of Brian Fletcher and Ryan Jenkins and the pitching of Grant Dayton and Justin Bryan to the win.

W. Soccer. Katy Frierson Named First Team Academic All-District; Heather Havron and Stephanie Fransoso Named To Third Team

Katy Frierson was named a First Team Academic All-District 4 choice while Stephanie Fransoso and Heather Havron were both named to the Third Team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Friday.

W. Basketball. Women’s Basketball Voted Eighth In SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

The Auburn women’s basketball team was picked to finish eighth in the SEC in the league’s preseason coaches’ poll, the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday. Junior guard Alli Smalley, the lone returning starter from last year’s team, was named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team.

W. Gymnastics. Gymnastics Holds First Intra-Squad Meet of 2009

The Auburn gymnastics team had the first of three intra-squad meets Friday afternoon in the team’s training center, the McWhorter Center. The meet served as the first time this season that the Auburn gymnasts scored by a judge.

W. Volleyball. Tigers Take On No. 20 LSU In Baton Rouge Sunday

The Auburn volleyball team continues its road swing, heading to Baton Rouge, La., for a Sunday afternoon match against No. 20 LSU. The match is set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast by Cox Sports Television.

AUBURN - The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host “Caregiving 101,” a seminar and luncheon on Friday, Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa at the Convention Center. Topics will include the legal, financial and managed care aspects of caregiving.

W. Basketball. Auburn To Host 2011 Women’s NCAA Tournament First And Second Rounds

The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee has selected Auburn University to serve as a first- and second-round host for the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA announced Thursday. The games will take place in the new Auburn Arena, which will be in its first year of operation.

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. With more than 23,000 students and 1,200 faculty, it is the largest university in the state, and according to U.S. News & World Report, has a selectivity rating of "more selective." Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The college was donated to the state of Alabama in 1872, when it became the state's public land-grant university under the Morrill Act and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1892, the college became the first four-year coeducational school in the state. The college was renamed the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API) in 1899.
