Swimming And Dving In The Lead After First Day At Alabama

The No. 7 Auburn swimming and diving teams are both in the lead heading into the final session of its two-day dual meet at in-state rival Alabama. After 24 events in the “Iron Bowl of Swimming,” the women’s team leads the Crimson Tide, 149.50-70.50, while the men’s team holds a narrow 114-106 advantage.

Tiger Runners Prepped for NCAA Championships

The No. 13 Auburn men’s cross country team, along with women’s individual qualifier Holly Knight, will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday. The women’s 6K will get underway promptly at 11:08 a.m., followed by the men’s 10K at 11:48 a.m. CT, on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. CBS College Sports will broadcast Monday’s championship races and NCAA.com will also offer a live webcast of the race.

The No. 7-ranked Auburn swimming and diving teams return to action this week for their second meet in as many weeks as the Tigers travel to meets in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Atlanta, Ga. Auburn’s swimmers will head to Tuscaloosa for a long course dual meet against in-state rival Alabama while the divers head to Atlanta to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational.

The Auburn volleyball team (6-23, 1-17 SEC) wraps up its 2008 season at home this weekend as the Tigers prepare to face 19th-ranked Kentucky (25-4, 16-2 SEC) and Tennessee (20-9, 13-5 SEC). Auburn will also recognize senior Jessica Glover prior to Friday night’s game as part of Senior Day ceremonies.

Auburn All-American Charles Barkley To Be Inducted Into National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday

Former Auburn All-American Charles Barkley will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The Hall’s third induction class will also include Kansas All-American Danny Manning, coaches Nolan Richardson and Jim Phelan, broadcasters Dick Vitale and Billy Packer and former collegiate player and executive Arnie Ferrin.

Sherell Hobbs Scores 1,000th Career Point As No. 20 Women’s Basketball Cruises To 71-45 Win At Georgia Southern

Auburn senior Sherell Hobbs scored the 1,000th point of her career Wednesday as the 20th-ranked Tigers cruised to a 71-45 win against Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Auburn improves to 3-0 on the season while the Eagles fall to 2-1.

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a state university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA. With more than 23,000 students and 1,200 faculty, it is the largest university in the state, and according to U.S. News & World Report, has a selectivity rating of "more selective." Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, as the East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
